Learn impacts of State Road 252 reconstruction

SHELBY COUNTY — The Indiana Department of Transportation and its contractor soon will close State Road 252 for reconstruction between Interstate 65 and Flat Rock in one-mile sections. The affected area is just north of the Bartholomew County line.

INDOT is inviting nearby residents to a public meeting to advise them about closure locations and to coordinate access to homes and businesses. The meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Flat Rock Volunteer Fire station, State Road 252 and Union Street.

Milestone is the state’s contractor for a $12 million rehabilitation project to widen and reconstruct or resurface seven miles of State Road 252 between I-65 and Flat Rock in southwestern Shelby County. The project includes bridge work at Lewis Creek and Flat Rock River, as well as replacement of numerous drainage structures.

People attending Thursday’s public meeting will have an opportunity to talk with state engineers and contractor personnel and to view construction plans.
