Joyce Ann Mathis, 59, of Columbus, died at 5:55 p.m. Monday, February 27, 2017, at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Joyce enjoyed planting flowers, watching demolition derbies and spending time with her family.
She was born July 3, 1957, in Columbus, to the late Clarence and Ruby Ross Tolen.
On May 28, 1983, she married Michael Mathis in Columbus.
Survivors include her husband of 33 years, Michael Mathis; son, Nicholas Mathis of Columbus; granddaughters, Tara Johnson and Storm Sage; brothers, Robert Tolen of Dupont, Jerry Tolen of Columbus, David (Sandy) Tolen of Hartsville; sisters, Bonnie Pedigo and Deloris Baker, both of Columbus; and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Mathis was preceded in death by brothers, Michael and Richard Tolen; sisters, Linda Garris and Mary Noblitt; and daughter-in-law, Kathy Tolen.
Cremation is planned. A gathering of family and friends will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday March 8, 2017. A memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday March 8, 2017, at The Ridge with Jerry K. Day Jr. officiating.
