Police block off street in search for missing woman

COLUMBUS, Ind. — The Columbus Police Department has blocked off Newsom Avenue, near Washington Street, this morning as they investigate something related to the search of a missing Indianapolis woman, Jacqueline (Kleine) Watts, 33.

Watts, a 2002 Columbus East graduate also known to many as Jackie, has been missing since Friday afternoon. Her car was found in the 2300 block of Riverside Drive, near the intersection of 25th and Washington streets, at about 5 p.m. with the flashers on. Witnesses said the passenger door was open.

The scene of the search this morning is about a half-mile from the site where Watts’ car was discovered.

Watts’ sister-in-law, Jenn Watts Barrie, posted on social media that Jaqueline had come to Columbus to drop off their pets before she an her husband Michael were to travel to Washington, D.C. for a visit.

Columbus Police Department said it will update the media at 10 a.m. at the department about the search efforts.
