Brian’s picks – March 9

I generally believe dogs are as accomplished as communicators as people are — and sometimes sharper. Often, we simply don’t fully understand their language. Animal communicator Mary Clouse can make sure we’re not barking up the wrong tree when it comes to relating to pooches. She will speak about how to talk to your dog and how to handle problem behaviors at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Red Room of the Bartholomew County Public Library, 536 Fifth St. in Columbus. The Kennel Club of Columbus is sponsoring the free program. Information: 812-379-1266 or mybcpl.org.

There’s always room for a new version of “Beauty and the Beast,” right? Disney’s re-telling opens March 16 (showtimes still were being scheduled at press time) at YES Cinema, Fourth and Washington streets in downtown Columbus. This unfolds as a live-action presentation of the classic love story about seeing beneath the surface. Tickets are $4 to $6, depending upon age and showtime. Information: 812-378-0377 or yescinema.org.
