Shirley Morris, 80, of Columbus, died at 2:01 a.m. March 7, 2017, at Columbus Regional Hospital.

Shirley was born Dec. 21, 1936, in Jennings County, the daughter of Broadus and Rose Spurlock Webb. She married Jim Morris Aug. 31, 1963.

She was a graduate of Columbus High School and an executive secretary at Cummins Engine Company for a number of years before moving to a commodity manager’s position. She owned and operated two different businesses, Corner Cupboard Crafts and International Travel Agency. Shirley was a member of First Baptist Church in Columbus.

She was self-educated and enjoyed traveling. She and Jim enjoyed many trips traveling abroad. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 9, 2017, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Jon Carlstrom officiating. Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery.

Memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the American Diabetic Association through the funeral home.

Survivors include her husband, Jim; daughter, Ann E. (Vince) James of Columbus; brothers, Gene (Annice) Webb of Florida and Otis Webb of Edinburgh; and grandchildren, Elizabeth James and Lauryn James.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Carl Webb, Ronald Webb and Danny Ray Webb; and a sister, Frieda Nichter.
