Dr. Thomas P. Dugan, 83, of 18th Street, died at 2:22 p.m. March 7, 2017, at Columbus Regional Hospital.

Thomas was born March 3, 1934, in North Vernon, the son of Michael J. and Margaret A. Clark Dugan. He married Barbara J. Vogel Sept. 28, 1957.

He completed his undergraduate studies at Xavier University and received his medical degree from Indiana University. Thomas enjoyed his 50 year career as a medical doctor working with Dr. Herman Echsner at Doctor’s Park Family Medicine.

He was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church. He loved music and sports, especially the Cincinnati Reds.

Thomas was a very warm, humble and caring man. He dearly loved his family, friends and patients, and was deeply loved by everyone.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 11, 2017, at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church with Father Clem Davis officiating. Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with a rosary service following at 8 p.m. Burial will be at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Memorials may be made to the Columbus Regional Hospital or Catholic Relief Services through the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara; sons, Michael G. (Sara) Dugan of Bradenton, Florida, Gregory T. (Andrea) Dugan of Zionsville, Paul F. (Mary) Dugan of Carmel and Joseph K. (Moira) Dugan of Indianapolis; daughters, Anne M. (Jim) Collins of Cincinnati, Mary K. Harvey of Carmel and Dr. Margaret J. (Jeff) Workman of Greenwood; a daughter-in-law, Mary Dugan (Thomas) Wood of Wooster, Ohio; 27 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, John P. (Mary) Dugan and Kevin J. Dugan; a brother, Michael J. Dugan; and sisters, Mary Jo LaBash and Teresa A. Thompson.
