North trio win events at indoor track meet

BLOOMINGTON — Three Columbus North track and field athletes won events Wednesday night at the Bloomington North indoor meet at Indiana University.

Jahna Smiley won the girls high jump with a leap of 5 foot, 1 inch. Mitchell Burton (22-2 1/2) and Maura VanDeventer (16-1 1/2) took the boys and girls long jump.

Smiley also finished fourth in the girls long jump (14-11 1/2). Sydney Geckler (5:49.03) and Lily Dozier (5:53.13) took third and fourth in the 1,600 meters and the Bull Dogs were third in the 4×800 relay (11:00.26) and fourth in the distance medley relay (13:39.62).

Burton also finished third in the boys 60 (7.14), Coleman Tennyson took fourth in the shot put (48-8 1/2) and North was fourth in the 4×200 (1:33.64) and distance medley (11:18.18) relays. Finishing fifth were Triston Perry in the 60 hurdles (8.65), Peyton Shelton in the 1,600 (4:50.93) and Elijah Brooks in the 3,200 (10:14.28).
