Statewide tornado drills today

Tornado warning sirens will sound at 10:10 a.m. and 7:35 p.m. today, a test of Indiana’s emergency alert system.

Indiana Department of Homeland Security is encouraging Hoosiers to use the drill as an opportunity to practice a weather safety action plan in homes, schools and businesses. The emergency alert system will sound on commercial radio, television and all-hazard radios.

Indiana has had 32 tornadoes since August 2016, the department said, and March, April and May are when most of the tornadoes usually occur.
