A 39-year-old man faces at least six charges related to the discovery of 9.1 grams of methamphetamine and prescription pills Monday night at a home on the north side of North Vernon, police report.
Jonathan D. Russell of North Vernon was arrested on a Level 3 felony charge of dealing in methamphetamine, and Level 6 felony charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of a hypodermic needle, maintaining a common nuisance and violation of the Legend Drug Act. Russell also faces a Class B misdemeanor charge of possession of paraphernalia.
His arrest at 8:20 p.m. Monday came after Officer Kyle Hall obtained a search warrant for a residence in the 100 block of Hoosier Street, after Hall had responded to a call for service at the home, according to a news release from the police department.
Hall, Officer Lucas Newsom, Reserve Officer Michael Holliday and Sgt. Keith Messer served the search warrant, which led to the seizure of 9.1 grams of methamphetamine, four syringes, multiple clear plastic bags, multiple clear plastic bag in which the corners had been cut off, multiple containers containing methamphetamine residue, multiple prescription pills and 10 cellphones.
Russell was booked into the Jennings County Jail at 11:28 p.m. Monday and was being held on $3,155 bond.
