St. Paul Lutheran — Pastor Doug Bauman will deliver the message, “Here We Stand: Evil and Suffering,” based on John 9:1-41 at the 8 and 10:45 a.m. services Sunday at the church, 6045 E. State St., south of Columbus. During the 9:30 a.m. Bible class, members will share historic items related to confirmation such as pictures, certificates and clothing that are more than 50 years old, and will offer a short explanation of their significance.The theme of Bauman’s sermon for the 6:45 p.m. Wednesday Lenten service will be “Here We Stand: Spiritual Warfare.” Bible study of the sermon will follow from 7:30 to 8:15 p.m. in the fellowship room. A light supper will be served by the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League from 5:45 to 6:30 p.m. in the fellowship room. A free-will offering will be received to benefit the special education programs at area Lutheran schools.

First Presbyterian — The sermon will be “Rub Some Dirt On It” at the 9:30 a.m. service Sunday at the church, 512 Seventh St. Infants and toddler care is available from 9:15 a.m. to noon. Sunday school for children up to Grade 3 will begin at 10 a.m.

The men’s and women’s support groups meet at 7 a.m. Friday at the church and a second men’s support group, for working-age men, meets at 6:15 a.m. Monday.

People in need of a meal are invited to the Hot Meals program offered at 5 p.m. Friday, with entrance through the glass doors on Franklin Street.

First United Methodist — The Rev. Howard Boles will deliver the message, “Where Jesus Walked: Among the Suffering,” at the 9 a.m. traditional and 11 a.m. contemporary services Sunday at the church, 618 Eighth St. Scripture will be John 9:1-41. Sunday school for adults and children begins at 10:10 a.m. During Lent, a special class for adults will be held in the Fellowship Hall discussing Tom Berlin’s book, “Restored: Finding Redemption in Our Mess.” No preparation is necessary before joining.

Wednesday: Special Lenten service at noon in the Chapel. Bring a sack lunch.

The next Book Club will be at 6 p.m. March 26 in the Multi-purpose Room. Everyone is invited to join the discussion of Tracy Kidder’s book, “Strength in What Remains.”

Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Columbus — The theme of the 10 a.m. service Sunday at the church, 7580 Goeller Blvd., will be “Welcoming Spring,” given by the Rev. Mary Moore. Fellowship hour will follow.

First Baptist — The Rev. Dan Cash will present the message, “At the Last Supper with Jesus,” with Scripture from Luke 22:7-38 at the 9:30 a.m. service Sunday at the church, 3300 Fairlawn Drive. Music worship will be led by WAVE and the EPIC Ensemble. Childcare is provided for infants. Older children will remain with their family for the entire service. Following Coffee Fellowship, classes for all ages will begin at 10:45 a.m. The children’s topic will be “Jesus the Good Shepherd” from John 10:11-18. The Youth will meet at 6:33 p.m. for Youth-6:33.

The Prayer Shawl Ministry will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

The Abigail Circle of American Baptist Women will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The Cross Connections Lenten Study, “Life Together,” will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

The Men of Faith Bible Study on 1 Peter will begin at 6:15 a.m. Friday in the private dining room of Four Seasons Retirement Center, 1901 Taylor Road. All men of the church or community are welcome.

Old Union United Church of Christ — Pastor Kirby Rupp will deliver the message, “The Darkness of Your Blindness,” at the 10 a.m. service at the church, 12703 N. County Road 50W, Edinburgh. Scripture will include 1 Samuel 16:1-13, Ephesians 5:8-14 and John 9:1-41. Sunday school will begin at 9 a.m. with fellowship at 9:40 a.m.

Wednesday Bible study will take place at 6:30 p.m.

Petersville United Methodist — The Rev. Stormy Scherer-Berry will give her sermon, “Light,” at the 9 a.m. Sunday service at the church, 2781 N. County Road 500E. Joe Bush will serve as liturgist and will share Scripture from 1 Samuel 16 and Ephesians 5:8-14. Teresa Covert will give the children’s message. A time of fellowship will follow the service.

The Lenten study, “The Words of Lent,” will begin at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Scherer-Berry as teacher. The class will last for one hour and a children’s class will be available.

The NOW committee will host a Mystery Lunch at noon Sunday.

The walking group will meet at 9 a.m. Monday and Wednesday at FairOaks Mall, 2380 25th St. The Journey Bible study will meet at 6:30 p.m. at the home of Sandy Williams. Choir practice, directed by Kathy Bush, will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Barb Hedrick will lead the prayer group at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church.

United Methodist Men will meet at 7:15 a.m. April 2 at the church. Don Harris will lead the business meeting and Ric Loper will lead the book discussion.

Westside Community — Associate Pastor Robert Vester will lead the 10 a.m. service Sunday at the church, 124 Tipton Lake Blvd. The children’s program for all ages through Grade 6 meets during the service.

The pastors are continuing a nine-week sermon series on managing life. The study continues this week with the message, “Managing Life — Creation.”

The Ruby Tuesday morning Bible study class meets at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church. The current study is “The Christian and the Holy Spirit” by Bill Bright.

There will be two new Bible studies beginning at 7 a.m. Wednesday at the church. The men will begin the study “Guardrails” by Andy Stanley. The new six-week study for women will be “Kingdom Woman” by Tony Evans.

The community is invited to the church for an Easter Egg Hunt at 2 p.m. April 8 at the church. This event will be for children ages 3 through Grade 6.

East Columbus United Methodist — Morning Fellowship will begin at 9 a.m. in the foyer of the church, 2439 Indiana Ave., with hot beverages and light snacks. The Rev. Charles Aigner will deliver the message at the 9:30 a.m. blended service. Young children will receive a special message before being dismissed to go to Children’s Church. A staffed nursery/toddler room is available during the morning service. Sunday school will begin at 10:40 a.m. for all ages and Bible interests. The Sunday evening service will begin at 6 p.m.

The Tuesday and Wednesday Bible studies will not meet this week.

St. Peter’s Lutheran Seder at the Clarion Hotel — A Messianic Passover Seder with Rabbi Chad Yeshayahu Foster will be at 6 p.m. April 10 at the Clarion Hotel and Conference Center, 2480 W. Jonathan Moore Pike.Cost is $28 per person and includes a full Seder with catered meal.

Community Church of Columbus student support group — The Landing, a Celebrate Recovery support group for students, will begin with dinner at 5:45 p.m. April 4 at the church, 3850 N. Marr Road. The Landing is for students in middle and high school who would like to discuss hurts, habits and hangups. Parkside Baptist Church — The Children’s Easter Celebration will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. April 15 at the church, 1780 Rocky Ford Road. Children in prekindergarten through grade 6 are welcome to enjoy door prizes, snacks, an Easter egg hunt and the Easter story.

Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Columbus — Groundbreaking for a playground, dedication of a stained glass window, a special Sunday service and plenty of music and food are some of the activities planned for a 50th anniversary celebration for May 20-21 at the church, 7580 Goeller Blvd. It is also being held in recognition of the church’s 15th year at that location.

Old Union United Church of Christ — Maundy Thursday service will be at 6:30 p.m. April 13 at the church, 12703 N. County Road 50W, Edinburgh.

The Easter Sunrise service will take place at 6:30 p.m. April 16 at the church.
