Chocolate event April 7 at FairOaks Mall

There’s a new, sweet way to support programs for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. It’s a spinoff of a popular event for 25 years.

Always Ready For Chocolate will be from 5 to 8 p.m. April 7 at FairOaks Mall, 2380 25th St. in Columbus. It will feature a variety of area bakeries, cookie makers and others selling chocolate or chocolate-tinged treats, according to organizers.

Advance tickets are $3 per treat or $20 for eight treats, and are available at Gramz Bakery and Cafe, 409 Washington St. in Columbus, or at The Arc of Bartholomew County, 2060 Doctor’s Park Drive in Columbus.

The event benefits The Arc, an advocate organization for people with intellectual and physical disabilities and also Special Olympics, a sports program for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.

In the past, Columbus Service League sponsored Taste of Chocolate and attracted about 2,000 people annually while raising money for the Reading Is Fundamental program. That event ended in 2015.
