Olas Denver Beckett, 78, passed away Saturday at the Rex Robley USVA Medical Center, Louisville, Kentucky. He was a native of Franklin County, Indiana, and was retired from the old Naval Ordinance Facility, Louisville. Olas was a farmer. He married Sandra Griner on Sept. 3, 1960, and she survives. He had previously served as a volunteer fireman in Hartsville. He was a member of the Edwardsville United Methodist Church and served in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra R. (Griner) Beckett; son, Barry Beckett (and his partner Maite) of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; two daughters, Betsy Beckett of Edinburgh and Polly D. Beckett (and her partner Vicki) of Corydon; three brothers, Arnold E. Beckett of Hartsville, Harold Douglas Beckett and Roger R. Beckett, both of Greensburg; sister, Iris F. Czap of Edinburgh; grandchildren, Jarrett, Cody and Austin Beckett; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles D. and Ethel (Roberts) Beckett; a brother, Arthur C. Beckett; and two sisters, Shirley Loper and Neosha Love.

Visitation will be from 1 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Edwardsville United Methodist Church with the funeral service to follow at 7 p.m. Interment will be private at New Albany National Cemetery.
