Bartholomew County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating an incident in which a teenager overdosed in a Walmart parking lot.
Deputies said Sgt. Dean Johnson was driving on State Road 46 in front of the west-side Walmart in Columbus at 9:05 p.m. Tuesday when he heard police being dispatched to the store’s parking lot in regard to an overdose.
Johnson found a running vehicle with its lights on with a young female inside who was unconscious, deputies said. The 17-year-old female had a pulse but was not breathing well, deputies said.
Johnson administered two doses of naloxone prior to emergency medical technicians arriving to take the girl to Columbus Regional Hospital, deputies said.
The girl’s current health status is unknown, deputies said.
