School bus, SUV collide; no injuries

No injuries were reported when a sport utility vehicle collided with a Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. bus carrying high school students.

The accident happened at 12:35 p.m. Wednesday as the bus was transporting 12 students north on Maple Street as it approached the 25th Street intersection, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

A Toyota SUV, traveling east on 25th Street, is believed to have disregarded a red traffic light at the intersection and collided with the bus just behind the driver’s seat, Harris said.

An investigation into the accident is continuing, with information on the identities of the drivers expected to be released sometime today, Harris said.
