Laura Hurt, diversity adviser at Columbus Regional Hospital, was named the 2007 William R. Laws Human Rights Award recipient by Columbus Human Rights Commission.


Columbus Mayor Robert Stewart was appointed to serve on a 20-member state panel of lawmakers and representatives of local government that would recommend ways the General Assembly could simplify state laws concerning local tax controls.


Thunderstorms were scheduled to move into the Columbus area overnight, ending one of the mildest months of March in recent years, including more than one day of 80-degree warmth.
