Central to conduct cheer tryouts, football meeting

Central Middle School cheerleading tryouts will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. today, Tuesday and Wednesday. The final tryout day will be Saturday. For more information, visit cmschargers.com.

Central will host a meeting for students interested in playing football this fall at 6 p.m. April 10.

Girls fastpitch softball signup deadline extended

The signup deadline for the 2017 Girls Fastpitch Softball League has been extended until Friday for the 8U, 10U and 13U divisions and until May 1 for the 14-and-over/high school league.

Games will be played Mondays through Fridays beginning the week of May 15 (8U and 10U) and the week of June 12 (13U and 14-over/high school). All participants must have a glove, and helmets and cleats are recommended.

Registration available for volleyball leagues

The Seymour Parks and Recreation Department is accepting registrations for the Summer Coed and Women’s Volleyball Leagues through April 22. A $95 team sponsor fee and a minimum of six $15 player fees are required at the time of registration.

Coed league games will be played Sunday and Thursday evenings, the women’s A leagues will play Tuesday evenings, and the women’s B leagues will play Wednesday evenings, all at Gaiser Park.

Former coach hosting swimming, diving lessons

Former Columbus North swim coach Jim Sheridan will host swimming and diving lessons beginning in June.

Half-hour one-on-one individual swimming and 3-on-1 individual diving sessions will be from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 5 to 9, June 12 to 16, June 19 to 23, June 26 to 30 and July 3 to 7 at the North High School pool. Participants get five 30-minute lessons for $65.

Columbus East to host volleyball camp

Columbus East volleyball coach Stacie Pagnard and her staff and players will host the Columbus East Volleyball Camp June 5 to 8 at the school.

The camp will be from 1:30 to 3 p.m. for girls entering Grades 1 to 5 and from 3 to 4:30 p.m. for girls entering Grades 6 to 8. Cost is $60, with checks payable to Columbus East Volleyball.

Donner to host new swimmer evaluations

Donner Swim Club will conduct new swimmer evaluations from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. April 12 and 13 at the Columbus North High School pool.

Club members will be on hand to answer questions and guide parents through the registration process.

Association offering program for officials

The Indiana Officials Association is offering a program for individuals interested in officiating high school and youth football.

Applicants must register and pay a fee by June 7. The fee includes IOA membership, materials and instruction. Officials also must join the IHSAA and pay the licensing fee and will receive rule books and other materials.

There will be rules and mechanics study from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays in June and July 12 and 19 at Lawrence North High School.

Former East girls coach offers camp at Ceraland

Former Columbus East girls basketball coach Mel Good and his sons Gerad and Shawn will host the Two Good Basketball Camp from 8 a.m. to noon June 12 to 15 at Ceraland.
