Students presenting ‘Beauty and the Beast’

The Jennings County High School music department is working hard on another musical production. This year the musical of choice is “Beauty and the Beast.”

Members of the band, orchestra, choirs and show choir, and even some students without musical backgrounds, are putting in a lot of time and effort in practicing.

The members of the cast have been memorizing their lines and refining their acting skills almost daily since the cast list was released. The musical pit, consisting of both band and orchestra members, has been thoroughly practicing the music that accompanies the play and getting the music under their fingers. Though both groups have times of being silly and goofing off, these dedicated individuals take this production very seriously and are striving to put on a great show.

Sandy Wildey is directing the show, with Marlayna Pieratt and Grant Pfeifer conducting the musical pit.

The show will be performed April 20 for the elementary schools. The public showings are 7 p.m. April 21 and 22.

The music department looks forward to a great turnout for both shows.

Carlotta Nixon is a senior at Jennings County High School.
