Panther boys, girls sweep tri meets

SEYMOUR — The Jennings County boys and girls track teams swept tri meets Thursday at Seymour.

The Panther boys scored 68 points to 60 for Seymour and 39 for Bedford North Lawrence. The Jennings girls won easily with 89 points to 39 for both the Owls and Stars.

Alexis Harsh led the Panther girls with wins in the long jump (15 feet, 7 inches), 100 meters (12.3 seconds) and 200 (27.2). Other individual winners were Amelia Simms in the pole vault (6-0), Alana Daeger in the high jump (5-0), Kayla Truesdell in the discus (102-7), Amy Gasper in the 100 hurdles (17.6), Izzy Daugherty in the 400 (1:09.2), Denza Simpson in the 300 hurdles (52.2) and Emma McPeek in the 800 (2:50.3). Jennings also won the 4×100 (54.3) and 4×400 (4:42.9) relays.

Doug Gerringer won the shot put (44-10 3/4) and discus (121-8) to lead the Panther boys. Tucker Marsh took the long jump (19-7½), Isaiah Ertel captured the 110 hurdles (16.5), Brooks Wathen won the 300 hurdles (45.8), Ryan Gasper took the 800 (2:06.9), Carter Leak captured the 3,200 (10:20.4) and Jennings won the 4×800 relay (8:50.2).
