Police arrest local woman on drug-related charges after traffic stop

Columbus police arrested a local woman on drug-related charges after a traffic stop on 25th Street near Central Avenue.

Officer Drake Maddix stopped the vehicle at 1:45 a.m. Thursday after noticing it was traveling without headlights on, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

A police canine who was sent to the scene alerted to the odor of narcotics in the vehicle, Harris said.

Police found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in a purse carried by a passenger in the vehicle, Tracy S. Coop, 52, 2629 37th St., Harris said.

Coop was arrested on charges of felony possession of methamphetamine, felony possession of a legend drug, felony possession of a legend drug injection device and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, Harris said.
