Dale A. Hagerty, 67, of Letts, Indiana, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2017. He was born May 31, 1949, in Montgomery, Indiana, the son of late Francis and Agnes Hagerty. He attended Sandcreek High School as a member of the class of 1967. Dale went on to serve honorably in the U.S. Army Mechanized Calvary in Vietnam and Cambodia. He returned home to work with his father in construction.

Dale worked on the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department. He went on to becoming an EMT and fireman, retiring later from the Columbus Fire Department.

Dale enjoyed life by spending time with family and friends. He especially liked sharing his recipes with others and bringing his favorite potato salad and chili to family events.

He is survived by his children, Dayna Hagerty of Columbus and Brian Hagerty of Letts; grandson, Nate (Krista) Hagerty; and great-grandchildren, Piper and Kaylee of Columbus. His former spouse, Jan Hagerty of Columbus, also survives.

Dale is remembered by his sisters, Alice (Bob) Back of Bloomington; Nancy (Dan) Schroeder of Greensburg; Dorothy (Steve) Scudder of Greenwood; Teresa (Joel) Diedrich of Georgia; brothers, Larry (Kathy) Hagerty of North Vernon; John Hagerty of Letts; Jim (Marietta) Hagerty of Westport; Dennis (Susie) Hagerty and Bernie (Janet) Hagerty of Greensburg; as well as 33 nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Knights of St. John Hall, 312 South Wilder in Greensburg. Dale’s family hopes that friends and acquaintances will come and share stories and remembrances from 2 until 4 p.m.
