Fern M. Bennett, 94, of North Vernon, passed from this life at 1:55 p.m. Saturday, April 8, 2017, at Premier Healthcare of North Vernon.
Mrs. Bennett was born December 22, 1922, in Boston, Kentucky, the daughter of Palmer and Margie Hughes Cash. She married Raymond R. Bennett April 15, 1944. He preceded her in death October 23, 2011.
Mrs. Bennett retired from the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. where she was a custodian. She was a member of the Apostolic Bible Church in Ogilville. She loved to read and enjoyed doing word search puzzles, crocheting, gardening, flower arranging, decorating her home and woodworking.
The family remembers her being a great cook and baker.
Survivors include her children, Larry (Anna) Bennett of Russell Springs, Kentucky, Michael (Eileen) Bennett of Columbus, William (Diana) Bennett of Santee, California, Judy (Timothy) Fleenor of North Vernon and David (Judy) Bennett of Columbus; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Louise Davis of Shelbyville; and a brother, J.D. Cash of California.
Mrs. Bennett was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a brother, William Cash.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Rev. Charles E. Kelley officiating.
Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday.
Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
