Seymour man arrested in Columbus on drug charges

A report of a possible intoxicated driver at a west-side gas station led to the arrest of a Seymour man on drug-related charges.

Columbus police were sent to the 2300 block of Jonathan Moore Pike about the driver at 11:10 p.m. Friday, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

Officers located Scot A. Barker Jr., 27, of 2529 W. County Road 950N, Seymour, who appeared to be under the influence of narcotics, Harris said.

Officers observed what appeared to be heroin and drug paraphernalia inside Barker’s vehicle, Harris said. Officers later found two small bags of methamphetamine and a syringe inside Barker’s coat, Harris said.

Barker was arrested on charges of possession of heroin, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a legend drug-injection device and possession of drug paraphernalia, Harris said.

Barker was released from the Bartholomew County Jail after posting $2,500 bond.
