Patricia (Patty Ann Blythe) Clark, 71, of Columbus, died on April 11, 2017, surrounded by her loving family and friends.

She was born to Robert Lee and Mary Maxine (Terrell) Blythe on Jan. 6, 1946, which was her mother’s 23rd birthday. She was preceded in death by her in-laws, Gerald Kenneth and Helen (Vinia Davis) Clark. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Sondra Kay Clark, who was born Dec. 4, 1965, her daddy’s 21st birthday and she passed on Dec. 5, 1965.

Pat is survived by her husband, Richard Dale Clark, after 53 years of married bliss. They were school sweethearts since grade school. She graduated a valedictorian on May 22, 1964. She also won the national spelling bee when she was in elementary school at Oolitic. She worked at American Security, the Bedford Daily Times Mail and several restaurants in Bedford and Oolitic. She also worked at the Bakalar Air Force Base for Gen. Richard Lewis, at Airway and Target and as a domestic engineer for prominent homes in Columbus.

She was a private secretary of housekeeping for supervisor of housekeeping Richard Nixon of Bedford Medical Center until his retirement.

She is survived by two sons, Gerald Wayne “Gary” Clark of Columbus and Matthew Dale “Matt” Clark of Fort Wayne and their spouses, Michele and Laura; two grandsons, Adam Conner Clark and Noah Chandler Clark, both of Columbus; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Lauren and Sarah Kate Clark, of Fort Wayne; and two other grandsons, Joshua Ryan and Joel Levi Clark, also of Fort Wayne. She is also survived by one brother, Dennis Lee Blythe and his wife, Susan of Oolitic; nieces, Michelle (Blythe) Spear and spouse Gary, and their children; and Kortni Leigh (Blythe) Canada and her spouse, Matthew, and their children of Mitchell. She is survived by one maternal aunt, Rose Ann (Terrell) Hobert of Franklin; cousins, Penny Lou Fields Gardener and Rebecca Sue (Fields) Davis; and a dear sister in Christ, Gloria Kay “Axum” Owen.

Pat was preceded in death by cousins, Terry and Timothy Wayne Hobert and their father, Melvin Hobert of Florida; two other cousins, Robert Ervin Blythe and Glenn Henry Blythe, both of Columbus. Also by many other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to neighbors Vicki, David, Brad, Luke and Matt Cooper, Donna Moore, Don and Laraine Gates. Special thanks to Amber Gilbert, Pat Tharp, Joan Nichols and Phyllis and Mary Breedlove. Special best friend all through school, Connie Elaine Stailey Scott.

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Barkes, Weaver, & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Jerry Lancaster officiating. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
