Police department hires new officer

Columbus Police Department has hired Brandon Decker as its newest police officer.

Decker, 28, graduated from East Central High School and attended Vincennes University, where he studied law enforcement and homeland security. He previously worked as a sworn officer with the Madison Police Department for 3 1/2 years, where he was a part of the department’s SWAT team.

After a short orientation period, Decker will start the CPD field training program.
