Beverly Carol “Bev” Sylvia Coon, 77, of Columbus, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Friday, April 14, 2017, at 11:50 a.m. in her home surrounded by her loving family.

Born on September 5, 1939, in Columbus, Indiana, Bev was the daughter of Burness Nathaniel and Alta May Christian Sylvia. She married Larry Coon on April 11, 1959, at East Columbus Methodist Church.

Bev was a 1957 graduate of Columbus High School, had worked for Columbus Regional Hospital as a PBX operator and later retired from the Patient Registration Department in 1997 and then committed her life to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker. She attended Crossroads Community Church. Bev enjoyed feeding birds, Gibbs on NCIS and was called a number one Peyton Manning fan.

Surviving Bev are her husband, Larry; daughters, Cyndy (Ryan) Muckerheide, Tammy (Don) Tungate, Sandy (Jeff) Walls, Lari-Dawn (Steve) Bell and Kathy King; grandchildren, Matthew and Nathan Gourley, Courtney Ray, Michael Tungate, Sarah Harper, Craig and Emily Walls, Cory and Spencer Hamm, Brad and Nathan Bell and 21 great-grandchildren, all of Columbus. Bev was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Louise King; and a brother, Louis Sylvia.

The celebration of Bev’s life will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street with Pastor Larry Coon officiating. Burial will follow at Donaldson Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
