Police: Local woman sold drugs

Staff Reports

Members of the Bartholomew County Joint Narcotics Enforcement Team arrested a local woman on three counts of dealing in methamphetamine, describing her as someone who has been selling large quantities of the drug in the Columbus area.

Diana C. Martinez, 36, of 2935 Lamplight Drive, was arrested at 8:42 p.m. Monday after a traffic stop in the 1400 block of Parkside Drive, a news release about the arrest from the narcotics enforcement team said.

Martinez became the focus of investigators after several people she is associated with were arrested on charges of dealing in methamphetamine, the release said.

She also was charged with resisting law enforcement after officers said she initially resisted being taken into custody during the traffic stop, the narcotics enforcement team news release said.

Martinez is being held in the Bartholomew County Jail without bond, jail officials said.

The narcotics enforcement team is a combined unit of the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department, the Columbus Police Department and the Bartholomew County Prosecutor’s Office, working together to target the manufacturing and abuse of dangerous drugs in the county.
