Robotics team raising funds for world competition

A Columbus-based high school robotics team, known as GalacTech, is preparing for its trip to the FIRST world championship April 26 through 29 in St. Louis, Missouri.

“This local group has achieved something remarkable. Now we have a local group of students and mentors working together to compete at the highest levels of competition in the world,” said Sam Geckler, leader of the team and a Cummins mechanical engineer.

But to get to the world championship, the team needs donations.

“We still need the community to step forward and support us; some of our students cannot afford the associated travel expenses, so we do need help,” Geckler said.

People interested in donating to GalacTech to help with competition expenses can do so online at: team4926.org and clicking on the “Donate with Paypal” button. Donations are tax deductible.
