Doraethel Anderson, 87, of Columbus, passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Hope.

Mrs. Anderson was a homemaker. She graduated from Columbus High School and enjoyed quilting, gardening, canning and crocheting. She and her husband were avid Harley Davidson motorcycle riders. She enjoyed driving her own motorcycle and traveling to all the states in the continental United States.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Barkes, Weaver, & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Rev. Marcus D. Speer officiating.

Family and friends may call from 9:30 a.m. till service time. Burial will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.

Doraethel was born in Bartholomew County, December 5, 1929, the daughter of William Franklin Taylor Sr. and Dessie Idella Mourey Taylor.

In September of 1948, she married Marvin Allen Anderson. He preceded her in death on October 15, 2016.

Survivors include her children, Dallas (Sherry) Anderson of Westport, Marvin Dale (Roberta) Anderson of Nashville, and Linda Gail (James) Anderson-Hill of Anderson, South Carolina; grandchildren, Clinton Anderson, Carrie Hood, Jennifer Lyn Anderson, Zachary Anderson, Lindsay Fields and Cody Hill; four great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Jean Chaplin; and a daughter-in-law, Connie Anderson of Columbus.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Dennis Anderson; brothers, William Franklin Taylor Jr. and Roy Taylor; and sisters, Rovie Coulter, Ruth Cox and Dorothy Carnahan.
