Zaharako’s Confec-tionery was sold to Columbus businessman Tony Moravec, marking the first time in 106 years that the historic Washington Street institution would be owned by someone bearing a name other than that of the Greek family that had operated it since 1900.

1992

Thirty-one seed-company representatives planted 5.4 acres of seed corn near Columbus Municipal Airport to be used as demonstration plots during the Farm Progress Show in late September.

1967

Jennings County’s Dog Farm Bridge collapsed causing serious injuries to a North Vernon man when the west end of the bridge dropped about 32 feet into the Muscatatuck River.
