Orchids to …

• Nathan Shockley for his kindness to a disabled person.

• Debbie and Tiffany Ortega for the great job on the 2017 Relay for Life Euchre Tournament.

• sponsors for the nice gift given at the 2017 Relay For Life Euchre Tournament.

• Brandon Andress for his compassion for doubters, from a lifelong seeker.

• the Rev. Howard Boles for returning a telephone call.

• Dr. Michael Dorenbusch and all the staff who assisted in my surgery, from Betty.

• my daughter, Alexis Crabtree, on making the eighth grade honor roll at Hauser, from Dad and the whole Crabtree family.

• Shipley’s Window Cleaning for their kindness in paying for my breakfast at the drive-thru.

Onions to …

• whoever thinks we need to waste taxpayer money on anymore studies when there is nothing that will derail the railroad project since it’s already in Bartholomew County.

• people who use any nonsense to get their name in the paper.

• transit employees who are nosy.

• the young man who threw all his senior project papers out on Lowell Road behind Princeton Park instead of using a trashcan.

• people who don’t realize driver education used to be taught in schools and that safety on the roads is worth far more than any silly budget expense.

• people who don’t understand that parents caused the drug problems of the ’60s and ’70s.

• those not paying attention to the upcoming national debt crisis.

• people who love to see their own name in print in the newspaper.

• the engineer mentor who does not let the team use its own ideas and insists everything be done his way.

• Columbus for truly losing all common sense when we worry that a parking lot doesn’t “look good enough.”

• the city of Columbus for trying to take its silliness into small towns that are obviously too close for comfort.

• the small faction of elites that don’t realize the town of Hope is happy just the way it is.

• all the drivers of 18-wheelers and big dump trucks that drive on Lowell Road and County Road 350W and run other cars off the road.

• supporters of the past administration.

• the group of supporters of the current administration which has no results to show after two years in office, so they keep bringing up a two-year-old election victory.

• the group of city administration supporters for their behavior in the Orchids and Onions.

• the unhappy former administration that can’t move on and find a new life.
