Ronald “Skeeter” D. Wetherald, died unexpectedly at 1:23 a.m. Friday, April 21, 2017 at Columbus Regional Hospital.

Skeeter was an excellent singer and musician, especially when it came to country music. His talent was showcased at Tootsies and at the “Wagon Burner” in Nashville, Tennessee, on more than one occasion.

He was also a great baseball catcher. Skeeter enjoyed sports, played football and baseball at Columbus East High School and baseball at Hauser High School. He was known for his smile and loved by many.

Ronald David Wetherald was born April 7, 1969, in Columbus, Indiana, to Ronald H. and Rachel M. Roop Wetherald.

Survivors include his wife of 10 years, Robin Wetherald; children, Zachary Wetherald of Las Vegas, Nevada, Dixie Wetherald of Columbus, Emily (Jarred Johnson) Unsworth of Seymour, Breann and Braden Lykins, Anthony Murphy, all of Columbus; grandchild, Atticus Johnson; sister, Lisa (Jason Query) Wetherald of Petersburg; nephews, Tylor (Jason Moss) Harper and Caleb (Gabby Carr) Ogle; nieces, Katie Moss and Kelsea Query; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his uncle, Mark Sharp; grandmothers, Alma Stott and Frances Wetherald; and grandfathers, G. C. Roop and Walter Wetherald.

The funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Chris Moon officiating. Calling will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
