Johnnie Owens Wagner, 74, of Brown County, formerly of Columbus, went home to be with the Lord at 11:20 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2017, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Johnnie was born June 6, 1942, in Pineville, Kentucky, to the late Dee and Lessie Bingham Wagner.
The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Glenn Poynter officiating. Calling will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Mr. Wagner was a former employee of DSI of Columbus and a member of Lowell Baptist Church. He also attended Just Friends Adult Day Service. Johnnie will be best remembered by his smile and love for those he met. He enjoyed traveling and being around people, as he felt he knew everybody. He will be deeply missed by family and friends.
Survivors include brothers, Roger (Mary) Wagner of Tennessee and Jerry (Shirley) Wagner of Elizabethtown; sisters, Laura Wagner of North Vernon, Charlotte Straub of Brown County and Patricia Aldridge of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by sister, Louise Wagner; and brothers, Vernon and Terry Wagner.
