Murnal “Butch” Ellis Shepherd, 92, of Columbus, passed from this life at 1:13 a.m. Thursday, April 27, 2017, at his residence.

Mr. Shepherd was a veteran of the United States Army and was a retired truck driver with Commercial Motor Freight of Indiana. He was a member of Ohio Wesleyan Church and the Teamsters Union. He enjoyed baseball and watching the Cincinnati Reds.

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Jonathan Moore Pike with Pastor Gordon Tilley officiating. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. to service time Tuesday. Burial will follow at Duncan Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Brown County Honor Guard.

Memorial contributions may be given to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.

Mr. Shepherd was born on June 12, 1924, in Nashville, Indiana, to Harley and Myrtle A. Foreman Shepherd. On Dec. 9, 1944, he married Mary Helen Marsh. She preceded him in death on Feb. 22, 1997.

Survivors include his sons, Dennis W. Shepherd of Carmel, Indiana, Jerry L. (Jayne) Shepherd of Salt Lake City, Utah and Timothy A. (Tammy) Shepherd of Commiskey; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter-in-law, Patricia Ann Shepherd; brothers, Wilbur, Charles, Thomas and Lester Shepherd; and sisters, Goldie Spriggs, Lola Baxter and Eunice May.
