Man arrested after erratic driving

Columbus police arrested an Indianapolis man on several charges after his vehicle was observed swerving on Interstate 65.

Officer Marcus Clark stopped driver Jacob A. Golob, 27, near the 70.5 mile marker about two miles from the Columbus exit early Sunday morning, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

Clark noticed the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle when speaking to Golob, Harris said.

A loaded handgun, for which Golob did not have a permit, was found in the vehicle, Harris said.

Golob was taken to the Columbus Police Department for a certified breath test and provided a breath sample of .124 percent blood alcohol content, Harris said.

He was arrested on preliminary charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, carrying a firearm without a license, and operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol content of .08 to .14 percent, Harris said.

Golob is being held in the Bartholomew County Jail in lieu of $13,500 bond, jail officials said.
