Olympians top Cubs

MADISON — Brooke Valles threw a two-hitter to lead Columbus East to 4-2 win at Madison.

Haley Engelking went 2 for 3 with a triple for the Olympians (12-7). Kaitlin Wagner went 2 for 4.

Jets fall to Pirates

HOPE — Greensburg scored three times in the first inning and went on to hand Class A No. 3 Hauser an 11-3 loss.

Hailey Lange had two RBIs for the Jets (12-3).

Panthers nip Owls

NORTH VERNON — Gabby Mahoney and Amanda Bonesteel combined on a one-hitter to lead Jennings County to a 1-0 win against Seymour.

Madi Skinner went 2 for 3 and scored the lone run for the Panthers (12-4).

Lancers rout Spartans

EDINBURGH — Edinburgh scored five times in the first and 10 more in the second on its way to a 17-0 Mid-Hoosier Conference win against Southwestern (Shelby).

Bailey Woodall and Grace Joiner combined on a three-hitter for the Lancers (13-4, 6-2). Sidney Beier went 2 for 3 with a homer and four RBIs. Kaylia Kelley added three RBIs, and Taylor Littiken and Emma Wade each had two RBIs.

Eagles slip past Mustangs

ELLETTSVILLE — Brown County overcame an early 2-0 deficit to post a 5-3 Western Indiana Conference win at Edgewood.

Azhia Morgan went 3 for 4 with a double for the Eagles (11-6, 4-1). Aubrey Hollander and winning pitcher Emma Summers each went 2 for 4.

Cougars top Morristown

MORRISTOWN — Mackenzie Kopplin had a shutout going until the seventh inning, and South Decatur ended with a 9-1 MHC win at Morristown.

Sam Goodfellow went 2 for 4 with two doubles, and Katelyn Owens went 2 for 4 with two RBIs for the Cougars (4-13, 2-3). Brooke Helms went 2 for 5 with a double and a triple, Annie Gant went 2 for 5, Brooke Owens had a triple and three RBIs, and Sierra Lang had a triple and two RBIs.

Bull Dogs notch win

BLOOMINGTON — No. 12 Columbus North won four matches in straight sets in a 4-1 win at Bloomington South.

Aubrey Smith beat Maya Mills 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, Madelyn Sanders downed Madzia Iannello 6-3, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and Yijaing Zhao topped Nadh Krishnan 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3 singles for the Bull Dogs (14-2). Eva Chevalier and Ali Bergman beat Tate Blackwell and Rachel Walker 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.

Shweta Srinivansan and Servane Cloteaux fell to Lauren Baumon and Isabelle Fernandez 7-6 (2), 6-4 at No. 1 doubles.

Panthers bounce Braves

NORTH VERNON — Brownstown Central won the No. 1 singles match, but Jennings County took the other four in a 4-1 victory.

Rebecca Driver beat Carly Brown 6-1, 6-4 at No. 2 singles, and, Hailey Brown downed Riley Roberts 6-3, 6-4 at No. 3 singles for the Panthers (7-4). Maddy Hill and Ellie Hearne topped Olivia Hackman and Rachel Adkins 6-2, 7-5 at No. 1 doubles, and Callie Wilder and Abigail DeCamp defeated Claudia Sibrel Sydney Cockerham 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.

Jennings’ Avis McGovern fell to Laken Reynolds 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 at No. 1 singles.

Eagles fall to Argylls

NASHVILLE — Madison-Grant won four matches in straight sets in a 4-1 win against Brown County.

Baelyn Koester beat Caroline Martin 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3 singles for the Eagles (4-5). Hallee Miller fell to Kelsey Kohlmorgan 6-1, 7-5 at No. 1 singles, and Elisabeth Huls lost to Lauren McGuire 5-7, 6-4 (10-7) at No. 2 singles.

Brown County’s Jacey Ferguson and Maria Villalon fell to Kanani Price and Lexi Crouse 6-4, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles. Leah Tucker and Zoe Conrad lost to Hannah Hawkins and Logan Lare 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.

Cougars come up short

NEW ALBANY —Trinity Lutheran pulled out a win at No. 2 doubles, but that was all in a 4-1 loss at Christian Academy of Indiana.

Lauren Fleetwood, Macey Prewitt won 6-1,6-0 at No. 2 singles for the Cougars. Courtney Barker fell 7-6, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, Abby Schult lost 6-0, 6-4 at No. 2 singles, Leah Stuckwisch fell 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 singles and Lauren Voss and Sidney Hoene lost 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles.

BOYS GOLF

Trinity tops Hauser

Skyler Stahl carded a 40 to lead Trinity Lutheran to a 167-198 win against Hauser at Clifty Creek.

Chad Stuckwisch added a 41 for the Cougars. Cory Stuckwisch, Noah Criswell and Drew Royalty all shot 43, and Kohel Nagino had a 45.

Justin Compton led the Jets with a 46. Owen Green carded a 48, Matt Sweet added a 51 and Nick Neafus had a 53.

BASEBALL

Lancers rout Spartans

EDINBURGH — Edinburgh broke open a close game by scoring five runs in the fourth and four in the fifth to pull away for an 11-1, five-inning MHC win against Southwestern (Shelby).

Keegan Sida went 3 for 4 with four RBIs, and Zach Murphy went 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs and threw a four-hitter for the Lancers (6-8, 3-5). Parker Bryant went 2 for 3 with two RBIs, Contan Henderson went 2 for 3 and Gabe Wilson went 2 for 4 with a double.

South Decatur rolls

MORRISTOWN — South Decatur scored six times in the second inning and went on to hand Morristown a 12-1 MHC loss.

Devon Martin went 4 for 5 for the Cougars (8-8, 5-1). Devin Thomas went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs, Oakley Billingsley went 2 for 4 with a triple and three RBIs and Hunter Seegers had four RBIs and combined with Martin on a four-hitter.

Mustangs topple Eagles

ELLETTSVILLE —Brown County was limited to two hits in a 13-1, five-inning WIC loss at Edgewood.

Noah Ryan had a double for the Eagles (4-13, 0-4).

Cougars edge Twisters

SEYMOUR — Trinity Lutheran pushed across a run in the bottom of the seventh to pull out a 2-1 win against Oldenburg Academy.

Trent Shoemaker had two hits, including a double, for the Cougars (7-6).
