Rolland “Griff” Griffiths, 95, of Columbus, passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2017, at the Brown County Health Living Community in Nashville.

Rolland was born March 1, 1922, In Medora, Indiana, the son of Roland D. Griffiths and Olivia Lanier Griffiths. He married Margaret Joan Davis on Nov. 13, 1943, while stationed in South Carolina. They had three children, Steven A. Griffiths, William D. Griffiths and Carolyn Ewing.

Rolland served in the Army-Air Force during WWII in the South Pacific and was honorably discharged. He worked at Hamilton-Cosco for 43 years, retired for a couple of years, then he and Margaret took over caretaker duties at Eco Park for eight years before fully retiring. He was an avid I.U. basketball fan, enjoyed lapidary work and creating folk art. He enjoyed working on genealogy.

He was involved in the Garden City Church of Christ and volunteered in the Boy Scout Program there.

Survivors include one son, William (Barbara) Griffiths of Columbus; one daughter, Carolyn (Charles) Ewing of Zionsville; and daughter-in-law, LeAnn Griffiths of Mesquite, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margaret; and son, Steven.

The funeral is at 11 a.m. today at Brownstown Church of the Nazarene with calling from 10 a.m. until service time. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Brownstown.
