Beverly Jean (Merrill) Woods, 92, formerly of New Castle, passed away on May 2, 2017, at the Indiana Masonic Home in Franklin. She was born May 24, 1924, in Battle Creek, Michigan, to the late David and Edith Merrill. She married Taylor Clark Woods on Feb. 6, 1946, and they moved to New Castle in 1963.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Taylor; son, David; and sister, Ione.
Beverly is survived by her daughter, Julie (Lloyd) Woods Leonard and son, Robbie (Linda) Woods; daughter-in-law, Nancy Woods; niece, Judy Martin; grandchildren, Lisa Euwer, Kim Woods Hamilton, Chris Sullivan, Kim Toth, Todd Ashman, John Meek, Jodi Gaydusek, Grier Leonard, Amy Meek Littiken, Wendi Gore, David Meek, Chris Woods and Sara Russell; 21 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and several other nieces and nephews.
Beverly was a loving, devoted wife, mother, sister and grandmother. She was a member of the Saint James Episcopal Church in New Castle, and loved her involvement in a local craft club and making Faberge eggs.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 5, 2017, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, located at 3406 S. Memorial Drive in New Castle, with calling hours from 12:30 to 2 p.m. until time of service. Burial will follow at Green Hills Memory Gardens.
