East, North schedule callout meetings

Columbus East and Columbus North sports programs are conducting callout meetings in the coming days.

East will host a meeting for parents of eighth-grade girls interested in playing golf for the Olympians this fall at 6 p.m. Monday in Room 103 of the school.

North will have a callout meeting for incoming freshmen and returning high school students who are interested in running cross-country this fall and their parents. Athletes will be given the summer training schedule and will be able to meet new boys and girls coaches Danny Fisher and Bethany Scruton.

The North girls soccer callout meeting will be from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. Thursday in the school’s cafeteria.

Also, incoming freshmen interested in trying out for the North girls golf team this fall need to contact coach Scott Seavers at [email protected] or 812-371-2348 for more information.

Course hosting mixed 9-hole golf scrambles

Par 3 Golf Course is hosting mixed nine-hole scrambles at 5:30 p.m. every Tuesday. Players should sign in by 5:15 p.m.

Cost is $7.50 per player, and teams are selected by random drawing. All skill levels are welcome.

South Decatur conducting test-drive fundraiser

The South Decatur athletics department will host Drive 4 Ur School from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the school’s parking lot.

For every test drive of a new Ford vehicle, Don Meyer Ford and Ford Motor Company will donate $20 to South Decatur High School. Refreshments and entertainment will be provided.

The event is limited to one eligible driver per household. Drivers must be 18 years old and have a valid drivers license.

First Tee youth clinics need adult volunteers

Adult volunteers are needed for The First Tee youth clinics, which will be in June at Par 3 Golf Course.

Former coach hosting swimming, diving lessons

Former Columbus North swim coach Jim Sheridan will host swimming and diving lessons beginning in June.

Half-hour one-on-one individual swimming and 3-on-1 individual diving sessions will be from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 5 to 9, June 12 to 16, June 19 to 23, June 26 to 30 and July 3 to 7 at the North High School pool. Participants get five 30-minute lessons for $65.

East to host basketball camp for boys K to 8

Columbus East boys basketball coach Brent Chitty and his staff will host the Columbus East Boys Basketball Camp June 5 to 8 at the school.

The camp will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. for those who have just completed Grades K through 3, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. for those who have completed Grades 4 to 6, and 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for those who have completed Grades 7 and 8.

Cost is $60, and registration will take place the first day of the camp. Checks should be made payable to Columbus East Boys Basketball.

Columbus North sets girls basketball camp

The Columbus North Girls Basketball Youth Camp will be June 5 to 8 from 1 to 3 p.m. for girls entering Grades 5 to 8 and from 3:30 to 5 p.m. for girls entering Grades 2 to 4.

Cost is $65 for Grades 5 to 8 and $60 for Grades 2 to 4 and includes a $5 Subway gift card and two complimentary tickets to the Indiana-Kentucky All-Star Game June 10 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, which will feature North senior Maliah Howard-Bass. Players are asked to register by May 25 so an appropriate number of camp T-shirts may be ordered.

Columbus East to host volleyball camp

Columbus East volleyball coach Stacie Pagnard and her staff and players will host the Columbus East Volleyball Camp on June 5 to 8 at the school.

The camp will be from 1:30 to 3 p.m. for girls entering Grades 1 to 5 and from 3 to 4:30 p.m. for girls entering Grades 6 to 8. Cost is $60, with checks payable to Columbus East Volleyball.

Association offering program for officials

The Indiana Officials Association is offering a program for individuals interested in officiating high school and youth football.

Applicants must register and pay a fee by June 7. The fee includes IOA membership, materials and instruction. Officials also must join the IHSAA and pay the licensing fee and will receive rule books and other materials.

There will be rules and mechanics study from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays in June and July 12 and 19 at Lawrence North High School.

Hanover to host three boys basketball camps

Hanover College will host three boys basketball camps this summer.

There will be two sessions of the Fundamental Skills Camp, which will run June 11 to 14 and July 9 to 12. A Post/Perimeter Skills Camp will be June 26 to 28.

Former East girls coach offers camp at Ceraland

Former Columbus East girls basketball coach Mel Good and his sons Gerad and Shawn will host the Two Good Basketball Camp from 8 a.m. to noon June 12 to 15 at Ceraland.

The camp is for boys and girls ages 6 to 15. Cost is $110 for Ceraland members and $150 for nonmembers.

East sets dates for girls summer basketball camp

The Columbus East Girls Basketball Summer Camp will be June 12 to 14 at the school. Girls entering Grades 3 to 6 will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m., and girls entering Grades 7 and 8 will be from 2:30 to 4 p.m.

The camp will focus on teaching fundamentals and is directed by East coach and Indiana Basketball Hall of Famer Danny Brown. Cost is $45.

Otter Creek to host Critzer Memorial golf scramble

The 32nd Annual Andy Critzer Memorial Golf Tournament will be at noon June 16 at Otter Creek Golf Course.

Cost for the four-player scramble is $100 per person and includes lunch and dinner. Tourney Day Packages allow three mulligans and three golf raffle tickets for $25. Sponsorships are available for $750 (Platinum), $525 (Gold) and $125 (Silver).

More than $5,000 in door prizes will be awarded during the dinner program, which will feature presentations to scholarship winners Holly Anderson and Bryce Turner.

Soccer camp coming to Wigh complex

Franklin College men’s soccer coach and Columbus native Cody Graman will host a PATAS Soccer Camp from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 26 to 29 and 9 a.m. to noon June 30 at Richard Wigh Soccer Complex.

The camp is open to boys and girls entering Grades 3 to 12 and will provide skill development and training in a fun-filled environment while working closely with a professional and collegiate coaching staff and college players.

Cost is $185 and includes a camp T-shirt. A four-day lunch meal card is available for an extra $30. A portion of camp proceeds will help fund the John McLachlan Scholarship and other local charities.

North volleyball to host skills summer camp

Columbus North volleyball coach Caitlin Greiner and her staff will host a Volleyball Skills Summer Camp June 26 to 29 at the school.

Girls entering Grades 2 to 5 will be from 1 to 3 p.m., and girls entering Grades 6 to 8 will be from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Cost is $50, with checks payable to CNHS Volleyball, and includes a 2017 volleyball camp T-shirt.
