Betty J. Kilby, 84, of Columbus, died at 2:25 p.m. Friday, May 5, 2017, at Indiana Masonic Home, Franklin, Indiana.

Betty was born Oct. 31, 1932, in Knifley, Kentucky, the daughter of Silas and Nettie E. (Hamm) Tedder. She married Earl Kilby on May 15, 1950.

Betty was a homemaker and was previously employed at Arvin Industries. She enjoyed bird watching, but her greatest joy came from taking care of her family.

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, May 12, 2017, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Wendell Seaborne officiating. Calling will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice of charity through the funeral home.

Survivors include her daughter, Judy Elaine (Steve) Shutters of Clearwater, Florida; grandchildren, Kirk (Amy) Kilby, Scott (Annette) Kilby, Jamie (John) Campbell, Jennifer Bebout and Melissa Mills; brothers, Troy (Bev) Tedder, Roy (Laurene) Tedder and Jesse (Janet) Tedder; sisters, Nannie Knifley and Mary Ann Talbott; brother-in-law, Herman Seaborne; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Earl, on Jan. 27, 2015; her parents; sons, Robert L. Kilby and Richard Kilby; and five sisters.
