The city primary election was marked by historically low voter turnout, with only 6.57 percent, or 1,919 out of 29,220 registered voters, participating.


Multi-colored cardboard poles were installed along the median on Jonathan Moore Pike to give motorists and Columbus planners a glimpse of a proposed new “Front Door” entryway to the city from Interstate 65.


To balance enrollments and ease overcrowding, Bartholomew Consolidated Schools approved the transfer of 166 students at the junior-high level from the Petersville and Taylorsville areas to Central Junior High School in September.
