RAMONA, Calif. — San Diego County sheriff’s deputies have shot and killed a driver during a chase on the Barona Indian Reservation.

A report of a reckless driver sent deputies to the reservation at around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Spokesman Ryan Keim says deputies spotted a man in a white truck and a brief chase followed. At one point, the driver stopped and left the truck but he wouldn’t cooperate with deputies.

Keim says they shot him with bean bags to keep him from leaving but he got back in the truck and took off.

Keim says that’s when the deputies fired.

The truck struck a patrol car and another vehicle. The driver died at the scene.

Two people in the other car were injured. There’s no word on their conditions.
