BATON ROUGE, La. — The Louisiana Senate has memorialized four soldiers from Louisiana who died in service.
The ceremony was part of the Senate’s annual “Military Family Day,” which has honored 224 soldiers since 2005. The veterans commemorated Wednesday were members of the Air Force, Army, Marines and Louisiana National Guard.
Individual condolence resolutions for each soldier were read by Sen. Jonathan Perry, a Republican from Kaplan. Family members for each soldier were invited to attend, and those families present were given a state flag.
The ceremony was followed with a balloon release on the steps of the Louisiana Capitol.
This story has been corrected to remove reference to ‘over the last year.’ Some of the soldiers died in previous years.
