LOS ANGELES — Authorities have identified a man who was fatally shot by police after barricading himself in a Los Angeles home and exchanging gunfire with officers.

Los Angeles County coroner’s spokesman Ed Winter identified the man Thursday as Anthony David Soderberg.

The 29-year-old was fatally shot Monday after a six-hour standoff with police at a home in Sunland.

Los Angeles police said he had broken into the house and refused to surrender for hours. They said he periodically came outside and exchanged gunfire with officers before retreating.

Police deployed tear gas several times during the exchange.

When Soderberg came out of the back of the home, he was shot by police. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Winter says an autopsy was pending.
