TORRINGTON, Conn. — A 17-year-old Connecticut high school student has been charged with sexually assaulting another student inside their school.

The Torrington High School student has been charged with fourth-degree sexual assault and attempt to commit first-degree sexual assault.

The alleged assault that came to light earlier this month when it was transferred to Superior Court occurred in December. The male suspect was arrested last month.

According to documents in the case, the suspect touched the girl inappropriately, tried to force her to perform a sex act and exposed himself.

The two knew each other.

Superintendent Denise Clemons said the district does “not tolerate this type of conduct or any other inappropriate conduct toward any of our students.”

The suspect has not entered a plea.
