Jenny’s Picks – May 11

1) I have some friends who are in a “Bad Birders Club,” that is, they will randomly post on Instagram photos of unidentified birds they’ve spotted in the wild. Should these friends — or you — chose to step up their games, the Wings over Mascatatuck Migratory Bird Festival should give them plenty of feather-based fodder. Events are scheduled from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. A Guided Tour of Big Oaks National Wildlife Refuge will be from 8 a.m. to noon May 13 near Madison. Call 812-522-4352 ext.12 to register for the tour.

2) I wouldn’t say I’m obsessed, but I have read and heard a lot about the life and times of Judy Garland, the woman who might have been the best entertainer of the 20th century. The Bartholomew County Public Library, 536 Fifth St. in Columbus, is showing one of Garland’s most celebrated films, “Meet Me in St. Louis,” at 2 p.m. Saturday. The screening is free.
