BARDSTOWN, Ky. — Authorities say three people have died in a crash in central Kentucky that closed part of a highway for several hours.

Nelson County dispatch supervisor Milt Spalding told WDRB-TV (http://bit.ly/2pDwJMx ) that two adults and a child were killed in the wreck Thursday.

Media report the wreck happened around 11:30 a.m. in the westbound lanes of Bluegrass Parkway in Nelson County when a semi-trailer and a passenger vehicle collided. Kentucky Transportation Cabinet spokesman Chris Jessie said the semi crossed the median into the westbound lanes and hit the other vehicle.

The westbound lanes were reopened several hours later, but Jessie said a crash reconstruction team from Kentucky State Police would likely continue work on Friday due to storms Thursday afternoon.
