MINERAL WELLS, W.Va. — A 59-year-old woman has died in a fire at a Mineral Wells home.

The Wood County Sheriff’s Department tells local media that Donna Florence died in the Wednesday morning house fire. Florence’s husband managed to escape the fire and was released Thursday morning from Camden Clark Medical Center, where he was treated for smoke inhalation.

Wood County Sheriff Steve Stephens says the blaze was called in shortly before 6:45 a.m. Florence was found dead in the first floor bedroom. The fire was confined to the room.

The cause of the fire hasn’t been determined. The state Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the case.
