WALLKILL, N.Y. — New York State Police are investigating the death of a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle on Route 17 in Orange County.

The Times Herald-Record of Middletown reports (http://bit.ly/2pFKtHd ) the accident occurred around 9:30 p.m. Thursday in the highway’s westbound lanes near the interchange with Interstate 84 in the town of Wallkill.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Westbound traffic was diverted off Route 17 at Exit 122 until around 1 a.m. Friday.

Troopers haven’t released any information on the accident.
