COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Police in Colorado Springs have arrested a teenager in connection with the shooting deaths of a woman and her adult son.

Authorities have not released the names of the victims, but a longtime friend told The Gazette they were 20-year-old Christopher Pepper and his mother, Barbara Pepper. Their bodies were found early Saturday in the home they reportedly shared with the suspect, 19-year-old Elijah Phillips.

Isaac Kale tells the newspaper that Christopher Pepper and Phillips had known each other since childhood and were “thick as thieves.”

Police have not released any details about what led to the shooting. It’s unclear if Phillips has hired an attorney.
