SHANNON, Miss. — Police in Mississippi are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found lying in her carport.

The Daily Journal reports ( ) the body of 66-year-old Molly Gladney was found Sunday evening in the driveway of her Shannon home in northeast Mississippi.

Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson says a deputy responding to an alarm call a few doors down discovered Gladney, who was last seen at a family gathering Saturday night. He says unlike Gladney regularly does, her alarm was not activated 24 hours before she was found and there were no signs of forced entry.

Investigators say an apparent incident started in the living room and continued outside.

Officials say an autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday. They did not release specifics only saying it was, “a brutal attack.”
